In a tweet from the X and DOGE developer team, it was revealed that Grok’s usage is now more cost-effective than subscribing to ChatGPT-4 on the X platform.
Grok Overtakes ChatGPT-4
According to the tweet, Grok is now available to all X Premium users at no additional cost. Subscribing to Premium and using Grok now only costs $8 per month, whereas a monthly subscription to ChatGPT-4 requires $20. This means that using Elon Musk’s Grok is 60% more economical than using OpenAI, which Musk considers a competitor.
Musk Enters the Competition
At the start of 2023, Musk declared himself a competitor against OpenAI and ChatGPT, expressing his determination to create an AI chatbot that engages with users without avoiding certain topics. This decision reflects his belief in the importance of freedom of expression, a belief that was further emphasized when he acquired Twitter for $44 billion and rebranded it as the X app. Subsequently, he launched his own AI-focused initiative, xAI, and introduced the Grok AI chatbot in late autumn.

In a recent tweet, Musk announced that a new “unhinged” news mode for Grok on the X platform will be released soon. This mode will provide summaries of the latest developments and news for all Premium users.
However, based on the screenshot shared in the tweet, it appears that this mode may actually be called “normal mode.” The crypto community is eagerly anticipating this update, as it adds a touch of “savviness” to Elon Musk’s and other major IT companies’ policies.
