Michael Saylor’s Company Strategy Increases Bitcoin Holdings
Michael Saylor’s founded company, Strategy, recently added 155 bitcoins to its holdings, purchasing them for approximately 18 million dollars, with an average price of 116,401 dollars per bitcoin. This acquisition, disclosed in an 8-K form filed with the SEC on Monday, increases the company’s total bitcoin hoard to 628,946, marking the fifth year since their initial purchase in 2020. The bitcoins under the company’s control are now valued at around 76 billion dollars. With an average cost of 73,288 dollars per bitcoin, the firm’s total investment has reached 46.1 billion dollars. Currently controlling close to 3% of the 21 million total bitcoin supply, Strategy reaps an unrealized paper gain of about 30 billion dollars.
Financial Details of Strategy’s Latest Bitcoin Acquisition
The most recent acquisition was funded through income generated from the company’s ongoing STRF and STRC preferred stock programs. Last week saw the sale of 115,169 STRF stocks, raising approximately 13.6 million dollars. As of August 10th, there remains an authorization for an additional 1.87 billion dollars of STRF sales. The rest of the bitcoins were financed through the public offering of STRC, which had been previously announced and completed.
The STRF series is non-convertible and comes with a 10% cumulative dividend. In contrast, the STRC series offers variable cumulative and monthly payouts, starting at 9% annually. These securities are adjusted to maintain their price close to a nominal value of 100 dollars. The ATM programs for STRK, STRF, and STRD stand at 21 billion, 2.1 billion, and 4.2 billion dollars, respectively. They complement the “42/42” plan, aiming to raise 84 billion dollars in capital through shares and convertible bonds by 2027. Last month, a new 4.2 billion dollar ATM for the STRC series was announced.
During the past week, Strategy did not sell any class A common stock (MSTR), out of a total capacity of 17 billion dollars under the program. Strategy had committed not to issue common shares if the mNAV ratio was below 2.5x in the second quarter. Currently, the mNAV ratio stands at approximately 1.5x.
Record Net Profit of 10 Billion Dollars Announced
In the second quarter report of 2025, Strategy announced a record net profit of 10 billion dollars. The operating profit of approximately 14.03 billion dollars marked an annual increase of 7,106%. This surge was significantly attributed to the unrealized gains of 14 billion dollars through the application of fair value accounting on cryptocurrencies.
